Eleanor Nancy Gow came into the world in
Sydney in March, 1964, but rose to fame 18 yearslater as a 183 cm tall supermodel called ElleMacpherson - nicknamed "The Body" - who hasparlayed her spectacular beauty into a successfulacting and business career. Macpherson'soriginal plan was to study pre-law at SydneyUniversity, but that stalled when she was signedto a modelling agency and became a star throughher appearances in Elle magazine, where sheappeared in every issue for six consecutive years.She made the cover of Sports Illustrated in1994 ? and has gone on to a record five coverappearances ? and turned to acting with a walkonin the 1990 Woody Allen film Alice.
