Eleanor Nancy Gow came into the world in Sydney in March, 1964, but rose to fame 18 years later as a 183 cm tall supermodel called Elle Macpherson - nicknamed "The Body" - who has parlayed her spectacular beauty into a successful acting and business career. Macpherson's original plan was to study pre-law at Sydney University, but that stalled when she was signed to a modelling agency and became a star through her appearances in Elle magazine, where she appeared in every issue for six consecutive years.
